Dance Flex w/ Judith Woodruff
Dance Flex will explore the dynamic relationship between the hamstrings and the abdominal muscles that allow the dancer to maintain a level pelvis positioned on top of the legs rather than “back in the heels”. This complimentary relationship allows the psoas muscle group to lift the thigh into retire without lifting the hip. Exercises based on Bartenieff Fundamentals will be used to facilitate the heel-sit bones connection imperative to many dance steps. To the extent time allows we will explore dynamic connections of the limbs through the core and parameters affecting flexibility. A great class for beginner dancers the class may offer new insights to the experienced dancer and new concepts for teachers to share with their students.

Class will begin with a quick history lesson on the rhythm, during that time Alesia will explain the break or signal to start stop or change a step; she then will lead a warm up and begin breaking down the steps. After this, everyone will line up and progress across the floor. Class will end with a Bantuba (semi-circle) jam session to show us your moves!!!
w/ Ellie Potts Barrett
Ellie is teaching a Cunningham Technique Modern Class. Cunningham technique looks a bit like ballet with the

strong spine, but differs in many ways. Cunningham

An atmosphere of genuine acceptance and encouragement is cultivated through thorough explanation of ballet choreography and technique.
